What is kappa-shader?
kappa-shader is a Minecraft shading package designed to achieve a true look. It doesn't use physically accurate numerical values and equations like many other packages.
Instead, while still using many precise calculations, it is adjusted to reproduce what you can observe in nature, which is usually more than just using equations to describe most phenomena.
kappa-shader has won unanimous praise from players since its official launch. There are more than a dozen different update versions from 1.0 to 4.2, and each version will have new content updates.
The latest version is the kappa-shader version 4.2 updated in March 2022.
kappa-shader 4.2 update log
Added "Flower Blossoms" which changes the bloom intensity based on the amount of fog visible in this area on the screen, which may lead to more atmospheric visuals
Improves the night light and more balanced, and the night launch is visible on the screen.
Slightly adjusted dynamic fog density
Reduce overall fog scattering to make the fog look less grey and hazy
Clouds now respect planet/atmosphere curvature
Overhaul the atmospheric horizon and planetary surface visual effects produce a more reasonable and realistic field of view clouds feel more "embedded" in the atmosphere of the horizon region, the planetary surface is now loosely approximated to fill areas below the horizon, which would otherwise be dark
New lighting approach to overhauling volumetric clouds blends some of Zombye’s Spectrum’s ideas to produce a more realistic and less flat look
