The accident reporting service (UMD) is an automatic GPS and mobile radio-based emergency call system within Germany for motorists. The UMD detects a collision of the car and the severity of the impact and automatically reports serious accidents to an emergency call center. Breakdowns and sheet metal and trivial damage can be reported manually. A data transmission takes place only after an automatic or manual message (no tracking).

The SIGNAL IDUNA accident reporting service is a free SIGNAL IDUNA service - exclusively for SIGNAL IDUNA insured persons with auto insurance and a letter of protection from the SIGNAL IDUNA Group. Alternatively, the letter of protection can also with the ARCD car and travel club Germany e. V. exist.

The heart of the UMD is the accident reporting unit (accident reporting plug and accident reporting app). The UMD can be used in almost every car. Acceleration sensors in the accident reporting plug can detect an accident or impact and the severity of the impact. If the accident detection plug detects an impact, it sends this information to the smartphone. The smartphone automatically reports the accident, the current position of the vehicle and the last direction of travel using the accident reporting app to an emergency call center. In the event of a serious accident, the emergency call center immediately initiates rescue measures. In addition, drivers can request help manually at any time via the accident reporting app, for example in the event of breakdowns and sheet metal and trivial damage.

The UMD:
